Chris' transplant 1994, I had made her some little red glittery tiny heels. She WAS Dorothy and nobody could tell her she wasn't. When Dr Moore came in to see either Jim or Chris, Lauren had her Dorothy dress and those shoes on and proceeded to tell him her name was "Dorothy" and clicked her heels for him. It was so cute because he played right along with her.

I was thinking through Gidget stories and most of them have you in it. This one did not: Gidget was the “it girl” of the 2009 intensive. She was a level higher than me and the favorite. Gidget rocked a blue Yumiko in half sleeved. My roommate was in her class and told me after the first week she thought Gidget was definitely getting that apprentice contract. One of our dorm outings was the new Harry Potter movie. Like most of the other kids, I scribbled a lightning bolt on my forehead with eyeliner. Gidget came to the movie dressed as a cat. I complimented her outfit and asked her why she was a cat. She replied, “There are cats in Harry Potter and I was looking for an excuse to dress as a cat.” She drank a 64oz Diet Coke and ate a box of cookie dough bites. I knew then she was just the coolest.

I think my favorite story of Lauren and I is from 2007. My brother and I flew to Texas on Spring Break to spend the week with Mel, Caitlyn, and Lauren. It was an eventful week to say the least. The week started off with Lauren and I going to see X-Men: The Last Stand, which is still a personal fave today. She was able to drive us around, she already had a driving permit for school and dance but she had officially turned 16 a few months before. We jammed out to Fall Out Boy's brand new album, Infinity on High, again another personal fave. We drove around for hours with the tunes cranked up. She had just broken up with a boyfriend and was all in her feels, automatically, I was too. Late one night I was at the computer upstairs on MySpace or MSN. Caitlyn and Lauren weren't on Spring Break so they had to go to bed for school the next morning, and Tucker was doing Tucker things. I had asked Lauren for some lotion before she went to bed. She threw some Jergens brand lotion at me and turned off the lights and headed for her room. A couple hours went by and I decided to put the lotion on, all over my body. The next morning I woke up and I looked in the mirror and I was ORANGE. Lauren had tossed me a "Self-Tanning" lotion!!! When she got home from school, she looked at me and laughed and said, what did you do. I was SO mad at her. I scrubbed and scrubbed to get that awful self tanner off. The ending of that week was a blast. Even though I was streaking orange, we went to the mall, hung out with one of her friends, had dinner at The Magic Time Machine, yet another personal fave and the grand finale of the week is when Melanie and Tucker were playing volleyball outside, Mel tripped and broke something in her elbow and had a horrible bruise and goose egg on her face.

I could go on and on about stories of growing up with Lauren. The trips ice skating, the barn swings, The Baby Sitters Club at Joe and Myrtle Lee's, Radio Disney, Dave and Busters, Eddie Coker, New Years Eve Parties, and the Drive In, but I will never forget the memories we made; Lauren, Caitlyn, Tucker and I. Between Texas and Missouri, we will have stories to tell for ages.
